Until we meet again...

Another summer goes by. My last summer as a high school student. My last months before college starts and I begin the next chapter. Before I continue with the sentimental things (and the cliché sentences), I would like to show you my last week of the Summer of '11.

So my last week of  summer was supposed to be dedicated to the summer homework I didn't do the whole summer, but instead I did more things in one week then I did most of my summer. I first visited my local Catholic church (expecting it to be open, like in the movies where you can walk in whenever you want), but it wasn't open so I just went to the Lady of Guadalupe altar. It took me like 15 matches to be able to light one of the candles there. People parked near the altar where just busy looking at me waste the matches someone left for the community to use.

You know not many kids go to the altar during summer, I even doubt they go during school. (Well maybe the overachievers so they can pass their tests, but usually those are atheist and believe in science.)

The summer assassins that usually don't do much if you just throw them under your bed.

Here were the rare times I tried to annotate. I think this was taken on the Wednesday before school started. I was on page 37...

I really rather not discuss this annotation business, so I'll leave you with a quote from 1984.

That Friday I went to Niles, which is a little street in the nearby town that has a variety of antique stores. They sell from clothes, to furniture, to Nazi memorabilia. The only thing is that most of the things are really expensive (like the Miss Dior Cherie perfume bottle, EMPTY, for $6). My friend Jessenia was on the look out for a birthday present for her mom. She ended up buying some really nice rings and necklaces.

Some of the stores were marvelous (like Thyme for Tea), but others I hated (like the one that gave me a sassy look). You can really find anything your little heart desires at these antique stores. Some stuff that is so old and the modern version is worth more than the antique version (fur coats). If you have a couple of bucks to spare for some cool decoration then this is the perfect place.

This was my least favorite store because of the treatment to their customers, (aka me who got in trouble for taking this picture. lady if you don't want pictures then put up a sign or tell me WHEN YOU SEE ME HOLDING A CAMERA) but it was beautiful. It had a very nice 20's and 50's theme. There were also all these roses spread out on the furniture. I only got through 1/4 of the store when I was offended by her tone and decided to leave.

H&M shirt, shorts are thrifted.

shoes are thrifted, I call them my sunday old man shoes. The were probably some old man's sunday shoes.

Necklace F21. I really like looking at the deep blues when the sun hits them.

I tried to look kind of casual for this whole trip since I was going to be walking around a bunch of place, and then taking like 256 buses. So I dressed up like my version of a tourist, and I went around touring my neighborhood. I had loads of fun this day, and I later went back that Sunday to buy a pendant for a necklace.

The next part of my summer was spent watching the greatest show known to the man... or woman. Anyways, I started watching this show over from the beginning. I finished about 3 seasons and I really ended up wasting good annotating time. This show isn't for the immature, just because of the sex scenes, but if you look past that the show just makes you laugh (I never laugh when watching T.V. or a movie, I'm just heartless like that and don't find anything funny, except for this show though). My favorite character is Carrie (of course), but I ADORE Samantha's humor. She can basically say anything and it will have me rolling.

Another thing I did this last week was go and help the incoming Freshmen learn the secrets to high school and get acquainted with the school and it's policies. It's this group called Link Crew, and it was my first year participating in it. I really enjoyed it, but I enjoyed standing out from the crowd the most. We were given a boring shirt to wear the day of the Freshman orientation, and not only did I cut it (too much actually that I had to make completely new seams), but I painted it with acrylic paint. My group's theme was jungle/safari so I painted some of it cheetah print.

Everyone really seemed to love it, and they just loved how different it was. I mean there were some people who painted little names and paw prints on their shirt (or my friend Marissa, who was in my group, who did cheetah print, but a bigger less intricate version), but my was something completely different. Not only did the bottom half get really hard it also reeked of the paint fumes. So I was probably ditsy that whole day because I was exposed to toxic fumes the whole day.

Our theme: Jungle Fever (inspired by Watch the Throne)

As you may have noticed, I cut my hair for back to school. I cut the bottom half of the sides really short and then pointed it at the back. So it is like a mohawk but it really can't compare.

I also went to Goodwill and made the biggest, bestest discovery of my life. A CHRISTIAN DIOR SHIRT (most likely Hommes). It was just so beautiful that I had to have it (I would have been super stupid if I didn't want it because it was only $3). I don't want to post the shirt yet because I want it to make it's debut when I make an outfit post with it.

I now also present you to the pride and joy of my summer (well I took this the 2nd day of school, but I was still in summer thoughts so it counts). I got a new phone this summer. A beautiful little Blackberry Curve. I just enjoyed it even more, because I didn't have a phone for a week since my old phone broke. I didn't really miss my phone until I got my Blackberry and I don't know how I survived a week. Also this is the September issue of Vogue, which I waited forever for my last week of school. I finally gave up and bought it, because obviously Conde Nast doesn't want to deliver it to my house. I really hope I get it sometime, because I want to have a copy I can rip and cut up.

Now, I leave you with this rose bush with a promise. YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO LOVE MY SEPTEMBER POSTS. I have some ideas for what posts to do (like about 3-4), but I'm sure I will only end up doing maybe 2-3. They are all really cool, and I am so excited to share with you guys.

This next month I start the Fall season on this blog, so it is the best because I have been really inspired and I just have so many ideas. Also what is exciting is that every post has something very special to me; either because I made it or because it is one of my favorite pieces from my closet. September-November should be full of different things, that I haven't put on this blog. The whole ideas and inspirations really play a different role, and go in a different direction than my summer posts. So, if you hated prepare to eat your heart out.

japanese lunatic tea house クレイジー

Time and time again, we are reminded of the tsunami in Japan. However, as time passes we forget about the people affected. Before I continue on to express my weird thought process, I want to remind you to pray for those in Japan as they continue their journey to get over the destruction. If you can please donate to those in need. Even if it is not for those in Japan, please donate.

I've been DYING to make a post on here with this shirt. I love it to death. Not only because it comes from NYC, or because Gaga designed it, but the Japanese characters swooned me. I spent a day on eBay looking for a perfect person to buy one from, seeing as I can't go to NYC, and since they were sold out. OH AND FOR THE REASON THAT UNIQLO DOESN'T HAVE A U.S. ONLINE STORE! Once I found one, I put a bet but was later outbid and the price raised to like $30 which is gave the seller a bigger profit, and I wanted to help Japan, not some bored rich kid with UNIQLO connections. So I found another one, that sold for only $27 with S&H.

After about a week of waiting for to win the shirt, and another 3 days of it coming in, I was PROUD to hold it in my arms. I've actually haven't worn it outside my own home, because I want it to be a part of a more intricate outfit, and not a simple one like the one shown here. Which I will explain more later on this post.

My idea for this whole shoot, was to create a crazy feeling, but with a nicer, neat setting. The simplicity of the outfit highlights the oddity of being dressed like that for a nice "tea party" (the one that was going on in my mind). I wanted to seem lost, vain, and inconsiderate.

So I am this lonely party (the only person there), but in my mind it is full of the best people to ever exist.

I also wanted to create this ominous atmosphere. I decided to move the decoration around in our living room, to make everything seem a little more empty, and almost contradicting at times. The cross and the painting to me where contradictions. Not only in size but also in other reasons as well.

I stood on our couch to also elaborate on this idea of being rude at a party going on in my head, while in reality I just look like a lunatic posing and jumping on my living room couch. I really wanted to portray a story in a way.
The glasses add to the whole lunatic idea. The over-sized lenses are almost vulgar for a party like the one going on in my head.

I created this image of darkness seeping through from the other side of the room onto the lighter side. It was totally a yin-yan effect, which again relates back to the Japanese influence. You can see a juxtaposition in the setting if you were to look closely. I took pictures in both B&W and in color to also see two different points of view. Notice how while in color, my expression seems lost uncomfortable, the B&W version is a little more confident and careless.

I want to address something to my readers, and to the people who have commented on my blog via Tumblr.

Many people have been sending me anonymous messages on Tumblr saying that my blog is a joke. That my ideas are great, but that my clothes and/or style aren't good enough. So I ask, who decides what good enough is? Obviously not someone who hides behind an anonymous feature. This is my blog and I decide what to put on it.

I understand that my outfits have been very simple, but that is me during the summer. SIMPLE. During the summer I plan what I'm going to wear for Fall/Winter, which is when I get more creative. My summer is like my chrysalis. I take on a more simpler look to make way for bigger things in the future. I just don't see the point in wasting money on clothes that I can only wear for a few months. So this blog's full potential doesn't really come out till Fall and after. So don't call me ghetto, or tacky, because you haven't seen a lot from me yet. Plus, I am far from ghetto so don't go around throwing words at my blog. Being a male fashion blogger is really much harder than being female blogger. Girls can wear skirts, pants, dresses, and shorts. Guys? Well they CAN wear everything a girl wears but traditionally it's only shorts and pants. Most guys won't wear dresses and skirts. So when you can't experiment with bottoms, you have to experiment with tops and in the summer you can't wear too much due to the weather. So stop commenting on my NEW blog, and either never look at it again or wait until I post more. New Fall posts should start in September, which I find very exciting.

Lady Gaga UNIQLO Save Japan shirt, H&M black pants, vintage black combat boots, vintage glasses

So the boots that I wear here have quite a funny story. My dad originally bought them for my brother in brown, but he didn't like them so I got them. Once I tried them on I decided that they didn't fit. So my dad said he would look for another pair at the place he bought them. He told me they sold them in black and brown. I said black, but then wanted brown, but I also wanted the black. However, my dad convinced me that I had too many brown shoes. So I stuck with the black, but he bought the brown ones for himself. He is only .5 a size bigger than me, so it's like I have 2 new boots! YEY! He hides his though, even though I found them and wear them whenever I want. I love my black ones though, and have become a summer favorite.

Here is a better picture of the Japanese characters on my shirt. Don't ask me what it says, I dont know. I want to believe it is just gibberish.

I leave you with a vain picture of myself. The ever so popular mirror picture.

World's Queen Guinness

Summer has trapped me in it's fists. It has absorbed my time, and consumed my life. I am about ready to continue to my quotidian schedule once again.

Every night I go on Twitter and just go through all of the days tweets, and there is always someone that I pay close attention to. Daphne Guinness to me, takes the most beautiful TwitPics this world has seen. The angles of her pictures depict her as an angel. They are all so glamorous, and without fail leave you impressed. I find myself going to sleep to such a beauty, she is living breathing art.

Not only is she one of  the most spectacular women in fashion, but she is also such an inspiration to me. Every picture she takes is magical and wonderful. I always wonder to myself: "Is it impossible for her to take a bad picture?". I see no flaws in her pictures and that is what fascinates me.

I don't believe in perfection, but I do admire people who make themselves seem perfect. I think that is when someone can be classified as glamorous, when they defy their flaws and deceive the public into only seeing a perfect being. The way the camera catches her beauty is also magnificent, it almost surreal like if it was a dream. The dream is so perfect, like a fairy tale story.

As much as I love my rebel and punky clothes, and I love darker clothing, I also love the nicer, classier looks. To me it is very ironic because they are two completely different sides of fashion. Daphne Guinness defies those barriers and is able to look classy, and yet not look boring or simple. Avant garde can sometimes come off as too much or to some people "tacky", but I have never seen an instant of tackiness from Daphne, which is why she captivates me so much.

I can only dream of being like her later on in life, because I feel like no one can ever reach her throne. This year for the Met Gala she changed in a window display outside of Barney's. After watching the video countless times, I was in an indescribable trance. Her timidness was so adorable, and yet she still was able to execute the most wonderful and dramatic fashion display of the night, besides the Alexander McQueen display.

Her beauty is beyond any description of beauty. Her makeup is always perfect, while her hair always seems to be an architecture of such astonishing grace. It seems so intricate and so detailed, that it almost seems like she was born with the makeup and it is just a natural effect. Her eyes pierce your soul and bring your attention to her. Her lips seduce your mind, and captivate you into admiring every breath she takes.

I sometimes wonder how she continues to come up with such wonderful things to wear. It's as if her mind is fashionably infinite, and never seems to run out of ideas. Any piece of clothing she wears is always something marvelous, and she never seems to disappoint. Everything she wears is unique, and she carries it with such class and elegance that it seems impossible for anyone else to do.

Empress full of grace, Queen you are with us.

All these pictures were taken from her Twitter account. I follow it religiously in hopes to continue to be inspired by her. I have taken up a new goal. I am going to take a picture of myself every night before going to bed, in order for the camera to create an illusion of perfection, like the one Daphne Guinness has perfected perfectly.
