If you are a usual reader of my blog, you can already guess I was completely delighted for the Hunger Games movie premiere. I was beyond ecstatic, and had been planning my outfit for a while. I knew I wanted to go as a tribute, but it was so hard looking like you were dressed up as a tribute when they wear pretty much normal clothes. I recently however came across this beautiful mesh hoodie. I had been wanting a mesh top for the longest time. I looked everywhere online. eBay always made me feel uncomfortable because all their mesh tops looked like they were made for strippers. I didn't a stripper look, I wanted more of an Alexander Wang S/S 2012 look. 

So while at Wasteland, I almost yelled of excitement when I saw this on the racks. It looked so similar to the Wang collection. The price tag bothered me a little, but I told myself that if I pretended that this piece was real Alexander Wang, it would be such a bargain. So that is how I came to buy my first nonslutty mesh top.

This outfit was actually my day time Hunger Games outfit, I was planning on wearing something warmer to wait in line to watch it at midnight. I wore this outfit to school which is the biggest risk I made this year, bigger than my fur coat event. I paired the top with my brother's mesh "basketball shorts". Someone actually had the audacity to say "IS VICTOR REALLY WEARING BASKETBALL SHORTS!???". I answered, "No, these are not basketball shorts when they are on my body. They become glamorous when worn by moi".  My literature teacher asked me why I was wearing fishnets, and you know she was judging me. My friend Jessica recognized that I was going for a sporty look, which is big this season anyways.

The movie really pleased me. I felt like it was as perfect as they could get for a movie. It's hard putting such a vivid and emotional plot into a movie, where you can't really understand everything from the point of view of the protagonist. I love all the visuals however. I loved the Capitol clothes, and what Katniss wore during her interview. I just can't wait for the next movie, I'm sure it will be even better than the first.

 Waiting in line outside in the cold was interesting. I came prepared with my dark leather jacket to go over my mesh hoodie. I really liked the way the hood consumed my face. I felt so mysterious, yet mystifying. I'm sure I came off as tribute while I pretended I was in the Hunger Games, camped out outside.

Capitol Couture Issue 1

I love the new Hunger Games promo blog magazine. Since I love fashion and the Hunger Games, this website made me squeal with delight. It's just so great that the people who are working on all these interactive advertisements for the movie have really paid attention to where the fans really are. The Hunger Games has a cult following on Tumblr, and the fact that they decided to make a website dedicated to fashion on Tumblr is just so appreciative. Tumblr Fashion Bloggers have increased over the last couple of years. There are so many great tumblr blogs focused on fashion. Tumblr has even sent bloggers to New York Fashion Week. I just found it so nice that they chose Tumblr to promote the movie. Now the Fashion world has also really been supportive of this series of books. I know Eva Chen from Teen Vogue is a big fan. I would like to say it's so popular in the Fashion Industry because it satirizes it and also it honors it. The Capitol is a demonstration of the obsession with trends, which is a reality in some of the people who work or participate in the Fashion Industry. I think the plastic surgery and enhancements are referencing the plastic obsession in Hollywood which is also a true, and scary reality.

The Capitol Couture blog is just so amazing because it uses real labels and designers to incorporate into the Capitol fashion. I think there are so many collections and designers that can be used to set a visual for the style in the Capitol. The Capitol Couture Issue 1 references Mugler and McQueen and both houses have pieces that would really satisfy any Capitol Fashionistas. I have stated before that McQueen was perfect for Katniss' fire dress.

Is it a sin to be so addicted to a book series that you skip school in order to read one of the books? Is it a sin to get in trouble in calculus class because you don't have your calc book open,  but instead you're reading out of one of the Hunger Games books? No I didn't think so. I just finished the second book and I am still hyped up and completely blown away by this series. This book just crosses so many boundaries and it just appeals to me so much. I enjoyed the first book quite a lot, but now I can't even recall it since Catching Fire has me mesmerized. 

This series can appeal to anyone. It has romance, action, and even quite a lot of fashion. Jennifer Lawrence (who plays Katniss in the upcoming movie of the book) said to Teen Vogue: "The cool thing about Katniss is that every fan has such a personal relationship with her, and they understand and know her in a singular way". I personally have a fashion relationship with Katniss. Even though she despises anything pretty because she is so simple, that bitch has the most beautiful gowns. I was dying while I read the book because I just imagined her wearing that beautiful white fur coat. NOW DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE MOCKINGJAY DRESS BECAUSE I AM GOING TO DIE JUST THINKING ABOUT HOW LONG I HAVE TO WAIT TILL I SEE IT IN THE SECOND MOVIE. I just envision the fashion icons being resembled in this series. I imagine Cinna to be a clone made by the DNA of Lagerfeld and McQueen. I think Effie is a mixture of Anna Dello Russo and Anna Wintour. I envisioned Katniss' wedding dress to be from the S/S '12 Chanel collections, with the wonderful pearl details. I always imagine her in A. Wang S/S '12 when she is competing the Games. 

When I think of the interview dress that Katniss wears in the first book, this is what comes to mind. I think McQueen would have been the perfect person to design the costumes for the movie series. SOMEONE ASK SARAH BURTON PLEASE!! She did wonders for the Duchess of Cambridge she can do wonders for The Hunger Games.

Speaking of dresses however, many designers have sketched out what they picture Katniss' fire ensemble to be like. I was more than entertained looking at the sketches! InStyle posted them on their website, and I was looking at each one for hours. Here are some of my favorites.

In my opinion, Christian Cota had the most accurate sketch out of the bunch.

Rachel Roy wins most creative in my opinion! AND SHE ADDED THE MOCKINGJAY PENDANT!

Joyce Azria from BCBGENERATION had the most beautiful sketch. I think she captured the look that Cinna picked for Katniss, in the first book, perfectly. However this dress is more like something Katniss would wear in the interview.

Eric Fetherston's sketch was the odd ball of the group, because the color scheme was different than the rest. I however think this design is perfect for a collection based off the movie, but not the exactly what I expect for the fire outfit.

I made a little Hunger Games altar after I finished the book.

This is my Hunger Games look that I created based off the first two books. The shorts are made out of a mesh-y jersey material; which reminded me out what Katniss wore for her Quell outfit (and i decided on shorts due to the water). The shorts are described by my friend as "basket ball shorts", but I think they are more like the sportswear that Alexander Wang created for his S/S '12 collection than what they wear in the NBA. The leather jacket is my take on the first Hunger Games outfit, from the first book. I love how inaccurate my idea of the Hunger Games outfits are (KEYWORDS MY IDEA). You cant blame me though, this is just what I would wear for the Games.

I get to start the third book tomorrow, and I am quite excited. I will make a third look for the book. Just don't take these looks seriously people, since this is just for fun. If I had body suits, I would make a more accurate look, but then it would just be a costume...

After I finished the second book I listened to Lana Del Rey's born to die an envisioned myself starting a revolution. Lana Del Rey in my opinion should be on the Hunger Games soundtrack because I think she would be something that Katniss would listen to, if they both existed in the same world.

Now that we are on the subject, I loved Lana's Born To Die video. The special effects weren't the most polished, but I tried to focus on the tigers in the cathedral more. She has become my guilty pleasure this week, and I am in love with her look and voice.

Okay now I have to catch up on Hamlet for my AP Literature class, and finish the AP Calculus homework I've neglected this week due to the Hunger Games. My motivation is to finish tonight to have all of tomorrow to read MOCKINGJAY! So excited.

Woodland creature

I feel so embarrassed to make a post after that last one I made was over a month ago. November wasn't the nicest to me this year, and you can tell since it is the only month where I only made one post for this blog (you can predict the next post won't come until December by this). It makes me so upset that I lost a whole month in where I could have made wonderful autumn posts. November was chaotic and I have so much to update all my readers with.

After months of "looking" for a job, I finally got one. It was a fast food job, which I plan to go into detail in an upcoming book post. It was a short lived time in my life, where my time was just absorbed to the maximum. You would think that this would mean more posts showing off my new clothes and what not, but no. For the month that I worked, I never saw any money until I actually left the job. Therefore, I missed the Versace for H&M line since I worked and didn't have money for it. I missed going out with friends, and I missed posting on PUNKIUS. AND I MISSED MEETING MARC JACOBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but that is a story that I will tell later on) Anyways that chapter is closed in my life, and now I have money to spend and buy wonderful clothing to share with all of you.

So I've been really getting into the Fall Festivities lately, and I'm trying to for as long as possible since the Californian weather robbed me 2 months worth of Fall. I've been listening to Florence + The Machine's album "Ceremonials" quite a lot, and I find it the perfect album for Fall. It's spine chilling vocals really remind you of the cool autumn wind (that I'm barely just experiencing these past few weeks). I've also been wearing a lot of my Spring prints and matching them up with warmer pieces to create this tribal look, that is wearable for Fall/Winter. For this outfit I actually combined a literal tribal piece with my winter clothes, instead of doing that whole implication of prints that I was talking about before.

I've been wearing my moccasins more this Fall because I need to before the winter rains come, and make it impossible to wear them. I also like how they go with anything and just gives everything a little spunk. The pants pictures are my ASOS Military Paperbag Drop Crotch pants. I had only worn them twice, this being one time and the other time when I went to go sign my termination papers at my job. 

 I thought this look was very cabin resort-ish, so I really wanted to get pictures with pines and stuff, and I remembered the house we would be spending Thanksgiving at had all these pine trees, so I decided to have the photoshoot there. I didn't like the pictures however, and it got really late, so the flash just ruined the pictures; also, it was too dark to take pictures without the flash. I was able to take a couple pictures with my phone that weren't as high quality but I think they were okay enough to have just to show variety, and not to necessarily show off the clothes.

My sweater is H&M, pants are from ASOS, and the moccasins are Minnetonka from Urban Outfitters.

The picture above was taken when I was in line, camping out of H&M on Black Friday. It was my first time ever going Black Friday shopping since I always thought it was ridiculous risking my life for things I could probably get when the malls aren't filled with psychopaths. My experience proved me right. I went to H&M since they would be giving out little scratchers with store credit. Each little scratcher could have up to $300, and only the first 100 customers would receive them. I didn't think it would be too hard to be one of the first 100 if I went a couple hours earlier and just waited outside. Well I got there 2 hours before the mall opened and there was already a huge line...but it turned out that line was for Coach, and then found the smaller mall line. After waiting 2 hours in the cold and having so many people cut us, they opened the mall and customers raced to the stores. I ran to H&M to find some people already in line. I joined them and waited till they opened. It quickly got packed and so many people were pushing and shoving and there was a crowd just watching us. When they opened the doors a flood of customers flowed through the store, and the first 100 got their scratchers (I wasn't one of them...). However the flow seemed to get bigger and crazier and I was lucky to get through the door when they closed the door again. There had been a stampede and the guard got overwhelmed, so they let the crowd simmer down before opening again.

Inside the store, there were shoppers pulling clothes off racks like if they were the last articles of food left on the planet. There were a couple of affordable pieces, but nothing too amazing. My dreams of coming home with hug bags worth of clothes quickly vanished and settled for one blazer/coat thing. That was a "fashion find" and was $50 off the regular price for that day.  Then I waited an hour in line, and then left the store to find a HUGE line outside H&M just waiting to get in. It wasn't worth it. By that time the store was ravaged, and anything left you could buy any regular day.

The moccasins that helped me beat people to the H&M line are one of my most prized possessions. They are my absolute favorite, and you can tell since they are worn out a little, but I just love them. I think they were meant to be mine since I found them on sale for $30, when online they are $50. I guess they were returned since they weren't in the box, but they didn't have any defect when I bought them so I knew it was a sign from above to buy them.

As you may have noticed these pictures aren't taken with my camera and they are edited. I recently was gifted an iPhone 4 (yeah I know I just got a BlackBerry 2 months ago, but I love my iPhone way more than I ever loved my BlackBerry...sorry I'm not sorry RIM) and I've become an Instagram whore. I love the way Instagram gives photos a different feel with their different filter options. It is very convenient for me to take pictures with my iPhone, than carrying around my camera. You might see a lot of my Instagrammed pictures from now on my blog, mostly to show you guys cool stuff I see.

Now I present to you my latest addiction, and much of the inspiration for my outfit. I had gotten this book over the summer, but I started reading it like 5 days ago. I loved it so much I actually finished it that same day (the same day I quit my job!!!). I think it let me become inspired and bring me back to a state of creativity. When I picked this outfit I couldn't help but imagine that this is what I would wear if I was in the Hunger Games. I would probably die quickly since my moccasins aren't much protection from the rough woods in the book, but at least I would die fabulous. The book had a lot of emphasis on clothing and fashion in my opinion so I thought it was a suitable book to be inspired by for a fashion blog. I can't wait to see the movie in March, and continue reading the book series. I've become a big fan, and already made the Mockingjay tone my ringtone on my phone. One problem I do face myself with is I don't know what to call us Hunger Games addicts. So if anyone could help a new fan here. What is the correct term?? Hung-ards..? Hung..eeks? HELP!!
