ended love affair

Now, so this was how I spent my Valentines day. These pictures were supposed to be up a long time ago, but I just never had the time to edit and choose which would make the cut...blah blah blah blah boring blogger problems....anyways here they are...on the last day of February...which I got an extra day considering it is leap year...day...today.

You know I really disliked the idea of hating Valentines day this year. I really don't know why since I barely have time to socialize...GOD FORBID find a Valentine. So the great debate was what I was going to wear on Valentines Day. I had told my friend Karinna that I was going to dress in all black  with her that day, but when I woke up I just wasn't feeling it. So I took a risk (my biggest worry was looking cliche and then people thinking I was dressed up for somebody), and wore pink and white...ON VALENTINES DAY. I feel all my fellow downers just stoning me already.
My friend Mrrm surprised me with this beautiful arrangement of fake flowers, chocolates, and a physics note sheet, covered in play-doh with words in French. Yonnelle was the first to point out that it was incorrect French for "Victor be mine"...you know, French natives always pointing out your French mistakes. But what was I going to do...it was wonderful. I am so happy she remembered orchids are my favorite flowers.
This picture was taken at lunch, when we all got together to have some of Jessica's orange rolls (which are like cinnamon rolls with orange icing). Karinna is missing in the picture because she was wearing all black and didn't want to stand out.
Jess and I had to take a picture together considering we were matching with pale pinks AND since were both wearing clothes we picked out for each other...and forced each other to buy. I am so glad made me buy that cream blazer, because it is really a blessing. Now I was asked a lot of things that day including (but not limited to):
HIGH SCHOOL RESPONSES TO MY OUTFITS
  • "omg who are you dressed up for?"
  • "OMG DO YOU HAVE A DATE TODAY?"
  • "aww look at you"
  • "why are you dressed like a rich person"
but the most interesting comment was...
  • "why do you cut up shirts and then use only small parts of them???"
WELL AHA! Finally a question I am willing to answer. I explained to my friends my new pieces before, so I knew the answer to this right off the bat. I am really into illusions lately, maybe because we are learning about them in anatomy and psychology at the same time, so my new goal in life is to trick people into thinking I am wearing a collared shirt, or a long sleeved button up shirt...when I am actually not. (you can refer to my cuff bracelets below or my collars) So I just wear parts of shirts and make it look like I'm wearing the shirt you believe me to be wearing...but I am actually NOT! HA! It's all part of my goal to mess with people's heads until I drive them crazy.
Cuff bracelets made by me, thrifted faux fur collar, thrifted fox ring
Because this reminded me of Jessica's hair.
Now I put these .gifs in this post for a reason. Since everyone thought I looked so glamorous, I had to confess I was inspired by Versace Couture by rubbing some glam onto me. I mean just by Karlie Kloss towering, looking divine while she makes her way down the steps, you can tell it is going to be a good show...and then it all gets better when Lindsey Wixson just poses so dramatically fierce-like. It was a really good show, with really good clotes, and a lot of SPUNK. I would wear Versace Couture to prom if I could.

I love the music and the sound of the cameras flashing...so beautiful...so glamorous.

birthday king

It's been a while since I made a post that I didn't have scheduled for over a week. A lot has changed! As you guys may have noticed, I changed the blog name/title for just creative reasons. PUNKIUS was being used all over Tumblr, and it just irked me so much. I changed it to New York Tribal because it was a little thing I came up with last year. I used it to express my style, since at times I felt like my style was very unpredictable and indescribable. I felt like it was just more fit, since it was something that came to in a dream. It was like a calling. I started getting a little Tumblr hate when I stated that I was being copied. People were saying how I thought I owned everything and came up with everything on this world. Obviously if I create something, I'm going to defend it when others are trying to rip it off. Anyone would have done it.

But enough of that. I am now a legal adult!! It seriously doesn't feel any different, and here I was thinking the planets would shift or something. My birthday was absolutely incredible. I stayed up a little later than I usually do just to see my birthday messages zoom into my inbox as soon as it was midnight. Consequently, I woke up late in the morning and had to rush to school. I guess I really sped through, because I was one of the first students in my first period class. Now, I wanted to absolutely dazzle everybody at school for my birthday. So I had to wear an outfit to make me stand out, since it was other people's birthday that day too.

I knew my faux fur coat would be a big deal and get a lot of attention, but it got WAY more attention than I ever expected. My psychology teacher interrogated me about whether it was real or fake, and then she proceeded to tell me about fur in the 90's. I kind of found it fascinating, so I didn't mind her rambles. She said that my coat was "quite a coat" which was cute of her. My classmates around me started buzzing and asking me where I got it, and telling me how much they liked me. One said I looked like a king. It was just admiration all around. I had worn faux fur before, so this was the usual reaction I got from people so I wasn't surprised. During brunch it was wild. As I walked into the cafeteria, people stopped eating to look at me pass by. Then everyone wanted to pet me and hug me, and I had to have 2 of my friends stand on my sides so people didn't come up to me to try to pet me. I felt like this glamorous celebrity strutting down the cafeteria, while my bodyguards protected me. My next class was just overwhelming. My teacher gave me this look that was a mixture of surprised and disgusted, but with a sprinkle of politeness. He asked if it was real or fake, and you know I was just tired of getting this question (I mean you can obviously tell it's faux, WHY DO I NEED TO TELL YOU?). I thought it would be interesting to see his reaction if I said it was real, so I did. His face dropped and proceeded to call me evil. I honestly thought he was going to ring up PETA and have them shower me in red paint. I laughed and said it was fake, and he started laughing and saying how he fell for it. I was so surprised with the way he acted though. Some people are just disgusted be he seriously was almost yelling at me because he thought it was real. Throughout the day I got little nicknames like Carrie Bradshaw (squeal!!!), P. Diddy (I don't get it either), and Mr. Glam. Of course I got more pets, and more hugs. I had to hide as much as possible to avoid the attention.

I usually don't mind attention, I really like it most of the time. However this was just so overwhelming.  I mean I do understand how different it seems to people at my school, since nobody really wears fur or faux fur in our area. To me it was no big deal, but to them it was like if I had the solar system wrapped around my back. It was so disrespectful to the coat, since it was being looked as a rare creature, but it wasn't being marveled for it's beauty. The coat has such a nice color, and the only thing people cared about was how soft it was. I don't think the people at my school are ready to take in something so beautiful on a daily basis. I swore never to wear it at school ever again. I did however seem to spark curiosity in some students, as they told me they want to try to wear faux fur too.

I almost forgot it was my birthday that day, since I was too busy talking about my coat all day. I did however then go over to my friend Kelsey's house, where our little group of friends just hung out and watched Sex and the City. It was a really delightful birthday and I enjoyed myself. Also Style.com dedicated their Look of the Day poll to fur on the day of my birthday, so it was obviously an honor for me.

Faux fur coat is thrifted, necklace is H&M
Now I just want to remind some of you of fur/faux fur etiquette.

FUR ETIQUETTE
(includes faux)
  • Don't try to pet people. It isn't polite, and if it is real it makes the person feel like the animal they are wearing. Since there is the whole idea that real fur is barbaric, it might offend the person since it will seem you are treating them as an animal.
  • Try not to ask if it is real or fake. You can make your own assumption, but it is really annoying and some people might get offended if you doubt the validity of their authentic fur.
  • Don't lecture fur wearers on the cruelty of fur; they obviously don't care if they are wearing it.
  • If you are going to make comparative compliments, make sure you stay away from trashy things or people. Example: P. Diddy.
  • The fur doesn't make the person. The person wearing the fur isn't trying to wear a costume, they are being themselves and expressing their style. A fur piece is just a piece of clothing, and not anything out of the ordinary.
I honestly do not see the big deal with real fur. I know that some killing techniques are cruel, but they have improved them over the years. It is just the same as when humans kill an animal for food, or when they go hunting. It is a personal choice, so everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. Don't try to degrade or insult someone that is wearing fur. It's like insulting someone for supporting abortion. IT'S A PERSONAL CHOICE. I really do not respect PETA because of their protest choices. I think it is disrespectful to ruin someone's clothes, especially if they are expensive. If they are entitled to their opinions, but insulting someone else for having a different opinion is annoying and makes your organization look bad.

I would have posted this post sooner, but my Internet went out for three full days! YES THREE! You can imagine the suffering. It all started on Friday the 13th, so it was obviously just my bad luck for the day. On Saturday, my family threw me a little party. It was very intimate. Only family friends, and family. My best friend did come, because our families know each other so my mom invited them too. There wasn't really a theme, except the red and gold decorations matched my clothes.

My mom got these cool plates for each of the tables. They reminded me of ancient Rome, which made me consider my party Roman Empire themed.

Gifted shirt, dad's ex coat, and my H&M necklace (which has been popping up in a lot of my January outfits lately). This outfit was similar to my New Years outfit, but I just really wanted to show off my necklace again.

Hershey's Cookies and Cream Chocolate

I got this cool case for my iPhone for my birthday. It has the same pattern as the Arnsdorf S/S 2011 collection. I really fell in love with the crystal pattern ever since I saw the collection, so I knew I just had to get the case...I just had to wait to get an iPhone and then wait for an occasion where I could buy it or receive it as a present. So happy to finally have it.

So happy to be another year older and looking forward to college! It seems like it is just so close that I can almost touch it.

reminiscent obsessive times

I wanted to just make a little personal post (not that my blog isn't already personal) to just go off and ramble about things. You know just to get so many things off my chest before the year ends. I bought myself Lady Gaga x Terry Richardson the day of Cyber Monday, you know just to take advantage of the sales. I was going to buy it anyways since I am a Lady Gaga fan, so might as well get it for a smaller price. The book contains so many beautiful pictures taken by the photographer during his time following Lady Gaga. The photos are of the artist during her tour of The Monster Ball. I personally loved the book, but this is coming from a Lady Gaga fan, so it's kind of biased.

I fell in love with this ring that Gaga wore in one of the pictures. It is a diamond encrusted snake ring, and I just looked at it for hours. Even when I was done looking at the book, I still went back to this picture because it was just too wonderful to stop looking at.  I also really enjoyed Gaga's nail color. My New Year's resolution this coming year is to end my evil habit of biting on my fingernails, because it's just a terrible habit that is so not chic. ANYWAYS, I've been reading on how to stop and I get so many suggestions like jalapeño juice on my fingers (yuck!), hypnosis (umm...weird..), or some bitter substance that can get you addicted to the taste. I decided to go for the fun method...painting your nails. The psychological theory is that if you see that your nails are nicely painted, you wont want to ruin them. I've always been so jealous of the fact that girls can paint their nails as normally as they breathe, but if guys do it's just a little weird. So I'm just going ahead and getting my nails painted to avoid having ugly nails. I plan on getting them in the color pictured below, just because I founded to stylish and chic. I'll talk more about my nail artistry as we cross that bridge.

I fell in love with the necklace that Gaga sports in the picture below. I actually had seen it before when the paparazzi pictures were shown online of her shopping while wearing the necklace. So it was only natural that I fell in love all over again with it when I saw it pictured in the book. I made a mental note of it, and moved with my life. I honestly forgot about it UNTIL I saw Chloë Sevigny had a similar necklace. Even though hers was made out of a metal, I found out where I could find a similar necklace. She explained it was from a sex shop in LA. So I went back to my not so little Gaga book, and gazed at the necklace once more.  I just knew I had to find my own! I looked up several bondage/sex shops in the San Francisco area (naturally, there was a lot...since it is San Francisco and all). After much research I started doubting if I would be allowed into one of these sex shops since I am underage. Then I started doubting if I would feel comfortable among all these adults buying sex toys, while little ol' me is trying to look nice and cute with a bondage collar. I finally gave up on my idea and started looking online for one. I couldn't find one exactly like Gaga's or Chloë's but I did find some that I liked. They were just too pricey, and since they weren't exactly what I wanted I decided I should just wait until I come across the perfect one. Hoping that is soon, since I don't know how much more long this fetish trend will last. Maybe once I'm 18 I will venture with one of my friends to look for one.

I have a confession to make...I am addicted to looking at pictures of nails, hair, and lips. I almost always pay attention to these features on people I meet in real life too. I found every aspect of this picture was made for my love. I love the color in Gaga's hair, and the color of her nails. I've always really liked the shape of her lips, and even her teeth. I've even told myself that I'm going to get teeth just like her's if I have the money for it.

My other obsession is EYES! I love looking at eye shapes. I love doodling eyes, and makeup on eyes. My Government notes for school consist of 75% government related notes and 25% pictures of eyes with wonderful exaggerated cat-eye eyeliner. I don't think my teacher would appreciate it if he saw my notes, but it's not just in Government. For as long as I can remember the margins of my notes are always covered with eyes. So one day while I was at my mom's friend's house, I was bored (and when I get bored I tend to yawn, and when I yawn I tend to cry) so I had all these tears running down my cheeks and had nothing to do with them. So the little model inside of me stated taking pictures of myself crying. I wasn't crying because I was sad but I took the pictures to make it look like I had just rewatched My Sister's Keeper.  The picture below is so cool in my opinion because the tears made my eyelashes stick together giving me a natural Twiggy look. I also think I resemble some sort of Virgin Mary in the picture, looking up at the heavens.

Okay so remember how I told you guys about my SF shopping experience?? Well here is one of my purchases that I have been dying to show you guys. I have another obsession...yes FUR! Well I only own faux fur because I thought I was against buying real fur, but lately I've been having my doubts and see myself wanting the real thing. I just hope it's me being psycho because even though I despise PETA, I love animals. So this jacket is faux, and I really love it. This picture doesn't do the colors justice (I didn't want to show you guys the real thing until I posted it in an outfit post), but I just love it's colors. It has these puffy shoulders that I could do without, but it's still beautiful.

This picture of this McQueen jacket came to my mind when I was buying my coat. I just think it was the mood and look of the whole collection that was registered in my mind when I saw the coat.

The four pictures above are from a little journal I have. I called it my lookbook. I would spend my time in math class, and anywhere else just cutting magazines apart and pasting them in my little lookbook. I did this during Junior year. Just a little before I started this blog, I really stopped working in my lookbook. I recently came across it again and went through it. These are some of my favorite pages. If I had the time I would continue on and finish it, but I just don't anymore. Maybe during the summer, or in college..HA doubt it! Actually looking back at pictures from that year...makes me really miss it.

So like you know I got the Monster Ball DVD and I've already watched it a couple times, and I always love this shot. It really shows the difference between Gaga and the other people in the store. I think I can relate to it, just because this is how I feel at times in my town. Like the comparison of the two pairs of shoes...(no not better than the others..) but like I'm from a whole different world. It's truly fascinating how different I am from the people around me. Yeah I seem pretty normal huh? Well maybe the people in my town are just a little weird with their Stussy clothes.

I found this picture on Instagram, which you can follow me on btw (punkius is my username), and I didn't know if to be scared or delighted. It's an Instagram that is only pictures of this cat in Japan. My first reaction was this frightened shock, but then I fell in love with the cute little kitty. Sigh...only in Japan. I think I love it so much because I love black cats because I have an obsession with panthers.

Well that's really all my obsessions...well I have more but these are the only personal pictures I had to demonstrate them. I'll tell you guys more as I go along writing on this blog. You guys can make like a list and turn into a game. VICTOR'S OBSESSIONS!

I just want to take some time to thank all of you who read my blog regularly, although you guys don't really comment anymore (hisss!), I still see your views and it means a lot. It's so cool that people from all around the world look at PUNKIUS. I am beyond humbled by this opportunity. I never knew that this blog would get so many views, it's really nice. Thank you!

I've also already seen a couple of blogs on Tumblr naming themselves PUNKIUS, which even though it's super annoying it's a little flattering. However this is the only PUNKIUS, there is no Tumblr named PUNKIUS that represents this blog. My Tumblr is posted on the side bar. Seeing as I did come up with the styling of the blog's name, I would appreciate if some you stopped copying it. Be original guys!

THANK YOU AGAIN, and hope to have this good of a success with PUNKIUS in 2012. I am working on this special project for next year, it's a book/novel post. It's going to tell a time in my life, through diamond lens (aka details are filled in with glamour). Can't wait for all of you to see it.
