mr mailman, I'm waiting

Anybody that knows me can tell you that I am a magazine junkie. I am obsessed with getting them in the mail too. That was really how I got into fashion, I wanted to get things in the mail. I was at Target once, waiting for my mom to finish shopping, and I stopped by the newsstand. I started reading Teen Vogue, and I really liked it. I think I liked the size, and it appealed to me being a young teen. So I got a subscription card with Taylor Lautner on it, and filled it out and sent it. I was beyond happy when I received my first issue. I then really just became so attached with magazines. It was just so satisfying, flipping through the beautiful scented pages, and just admiring everything. I started by buying EVERY single issue of about 5 different magazines. One day it just clicked *just get a subscription dummy*. So I did, and now I just wait for my magz every month.
There are months when I get a little impatient with the mailman. I have gotten better at controlling it, but I used to get really upset when it was almost the end of the month and I still didn't have my Vogue. I knew exactly what time the mailman came, and I would wait for him outside so I could hurry and grab my babies. We had a problem once where he was ripping my magazines when he stuffed them in my mailbox. I had to tell him it wasn't acceptable and that he needed to be more careful. However, nothing can compare to the sweet feeling of finally getting that issue you have been waiting for. My mailman is my frenemie.
So this post was really inspired by me camping out for the mailman...if you haven't noticed already
denim shirt from Cotton On, H&M pants, and thrfited boots
I was feeling a little western this day.

what I resort to

Here are some of my favorite looks for Resort 2013. I saw that many people agree with me and believe that the resort collections this year have been more than marvelous. It really does get me excited for the Spring collections in the fall.
Alexander Wang
I love how gloomy this collection is. I really enjoy the alligator skin tops, they give the collection an edge along with a different texture. The white tee dress is my favorite because it reminds me of the gangsta attire that they wear in the bay. The shoes look amazing, with a marble looking heel. Everything in this collection gives me apocalyptic street wear vibes. I love how everything A. Wang makes is so wearable.
Balenciaga
I really like the colors of the Balenciaga collection. I feel like the pastels are still appropriate and the cuts  add on to create such a whimsical effect. The black harness tops add a polish to the collection.
CÉLINE
The bandanna trend controlled this collection, but my favorite part about it was the sheer pants. Let me get dat.
 Givenchy
The scarf pattern really worked for Givenchy. I adored the shape of the pants and the way that they made the collection stand out. The colors really stand out but they still remain very chic. It is very refreshingly chic to see something so bold and polished. As you can see I really liked the sleeves of the tops, which are a combination of long sleeves and short sleeves with a little bit of a cape. Cape sleeves. SUPER.
 3.1 Phillip Lim
Loved the creams of the collection. I however adored the leather overalls. I am here for overalls at the moment so I was satisfied with them. The paradise flower prints really please my summer vibes that radiant from my skin at the moment. I really feel like this collection had a lot of structure, and I enjoyed that. I really like structured clothes. And even though the clothes seem to drape on the skin, it still all seemed so perfectly polished.

wedge crazy

I think we can all agree that this wedged sneaker trend is popular...maybe even beyond popular. With designers like Isabel Marant, Marc Jacobs, and Jeffery Campbell  coming out with their own versions of the sneaker, we slowly start to love the idea. You know when I was slipping through the pages of the April issue of Teen Vogue, I saw this picture and thought "oh another wedged sneaker...big whoop". After seeing these shows I started to love them. I just loved the fact that they were NIKE. All the guys where I live wear nikes, so I thought "omg I can finally fit in!!". If I wore these people would just think I am wearing regular Nikes, because they did such a good job of hiding the heel. PLUS, I would be a couple of inches taller and people would not understand why and they would just blame it on puberty.
When I told my friends my plans of buying these shoes, they said "NIKES!? VICTOR NO!!". I guess it was because Nikes here have that reputation of being really urban and are related with the wannabe rappers. No one really understood how I would troll the world with these shoes. People would just think I was going along with the Nike trend but I would be wearing WEDGES, and most people would never know. I mean that's a genius plan if you ask me. So I went on the Nordstrom website and found that they were in stock, which was amazing...but they didn't have  my size. So I cried a little bit because I really wanted these shoes, I really wanted them badly. Their porcelain like print haunted my dreams. I got over them eventually, but I mean it isn't often when Vogue approves Nike shoes.

high school wrap up

Even as I type this I can't believe it's real. I mean I saw it coming of course, but I just don't know how to feel about the situation. These last few weeks have been a great experience. I mean now that high school is over I feel so free, like I can do so many things. However, now I have to really plan out my plans for college and try to accomplish all my dreams. It is really stressful to tell people my plans for college, because they get all excited and worked up. I understand and I mean I should be too, but nobody really knows everything that I have to do. I mean it's the cheesy "no one knows my pain" kind of situation. I hate to get all teen emo on you guys, but my life is much more complicated than people think. I really do feel like I have more pressures than a kid my age should have.

Besides all the stressful things that along with the end of high school, there are also a lot of pretty cool and fun things. My intention was to really make several different posts, but I lost track of time and I would hate to dwell in the past for so much longer. I am trying to just update you guys real quick and then start blogging things a little bit after they happen, not a few weeks like I usually do. Now that it's summer, I have the ability to focus on blogging and finding inspiration. So here is a recap of my last few days of high school, which ends all those teenage high school complaints in my posts and allows for a carefree me to write on this blog.
I visited Disneyland for the first time in about 5 years. I went with my class as a graduation trip. I mean since I didn't go to prom, this was really the only thing I was looking forward to. I mean the experience was magical, like every Disneyland trip should be. I had a ton of fun with my friends, and it was just so amazing walking through Disneyland and remembering things from my childhood.
I was able to visit California Adventures, which I had never been to, and create new memories with my friends. My friend Karinna and I are huge Ariel fans so we took pride in taking pictures with anything Ariel. I wore my Linda Farrow-esque glasses, which Lady Gaga wears in her Paparazzi video. I really love these glasses, but I can never find the appropriate place to wear them without getting to many stares that I start feeling uncomfortable. They made me fit right in at Disneyland, and I did still get a lot of stares but these were probably more stares of appreciation.
My outfit inspiration was Prada Fall/Winter 2012. I really liked the repetitive geometrical shapes of the shirt when I first saw it at the store. I was actually waiting for my favorite Chinese food place to open, and decided to visit the thrift store next door. I ended finding the shirt and the shoes that I wore to Disneyland at the same store. Both things were $4 plus tax. I saw some amazing J.Crew shoes there too, but they weren't my size and I almost left the store crying....ANYWAYS...The shirt really reminded me of Prada and for some reason it also reminded me of the "It's a Small World" ride, so I thought it was appropriate.
These are the beautiful shoes I got for such a cheap price. They have become my favorite shoes, and I wear them often. I recently wore them to graduation as well.
And this is me at the beach after the last day of school. I was trying to go for a beach bum look, and I mean only I would care about what I wore to a sandy beach (besides the people who care about their swim suits and whatever). This was at Santa Cruz with my best friend Jessica, who is looking retro from her hair, to her top, to her shorts. I really didn't plan taking pictures, but I became Jess' photographer and I started taking really good pictures of her. I really liked the way the ocean and the sand complimented her hair and skin. Everything just seemed to look so nice together. So I guess when I look at it my outfit also goes along with the sandy and blue combo.
And this friends was the moment of truth. Graduation came by so fast and it was a really weird experience. It was gonna be the last time I saw most of my classmates. I also found it so ironic how I spent my whole high school career trying to set myself apart from my classmates, and I ended up wearing the exact same blue graduation gown as everyone else. I did take pride in all my colorful leis however. I love orchids, so I worked those beauties. It was all to me a really pretty experience, now that I am a graduate I feel like I have to rock who I am with even more pride. I have so many people to prove right and wrong, but I also have myself and I plan to satisfy every dream I have come up with these last couple of years.

art smock

I recently went to my friend Karinna's house, and after choosing clothes for her to wear I tried on this little top of hers. I loved the way the collar from my shirt popped out and created this school girl look. The top itself looks like an art smock, so I felt so crafty and cute. I wore it around her house for a while, and then took it off because it was too dress-like. Honestly I loved it mostly because of the pockets. The denim it was made out of was quite light, and really had the best color.
At least I have these bathroom pics as memories.

you left too soon

This post is dedicated to the rain that left before I came across this coat. I wore this coat originally on a quick trip to San Francisco, in which we attended a poetry slam. It was a show stopper to say the least. I decided on wearing it when I cam across it in my friend Murmie (née Mirium). I hyperventilated until she let me wear it. I then kept it because I knew I wanted to wear it to school. I wore it to school on a cloudy day, with a few sprinkles of rain here and there. It got me so many nice compliments. I wore it with my thrifted floral shirt, which has these beautiful blue flowers. I'll emphasize the shirt in a future post because I want to focus on the rain coat more. Excuse my right foot in the picture above, I was standing on a hill and it was defying gravity I guess.
This is obviously a couple of weeks later. My friend kept asking for the jacket back, so I had to shoot really quick. I love how it illuminates my face in a yellowish light. This day was really sunny, and I was sweating in the coat, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Murmie is jealous that everybody liked the jacket on me, and that she didn't get to wear it first.
I really like the way my face changes depending on the length of my hair. Actually, I feel like my face never looks the same. I always look really young, but I can with look fierce, derpy, or just plainly childish. I take pictures in angles that make me look the way I see myself in my mind. I mean when other people take pictures of me, I almost never like them. They really don't depict the vision I have in my mind.
My dad said I look like a banana in this coat, and I'm okay with that. I really just adore it. I think it's very classic. A yellow raincoat for a cloudy day is just such a timeless vision. It might be the color contrast, but I really like the way it makes everything more lively on a sunny day. To me it looks like the sun's aura being conveyed through a jacket. A light really does seem to follow you in this coat. I love the shape of the buttons and the pockets. It is just perfection in every aspect, and it kills me that I have to give it back (hint hint Murmie). I'm just glad I was able to wear it at least once. I felt like a variation of the Morton Salt girl.
